On Monday, images surfaced of a beautiful moment between Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert.

A video shows how the rivals hug each other shortly after the finish of the Tour of Flanders and at that moment do not yet know who won.

In an exciting sprint-à-deux, Van der Poel pushed his wheel over the finish line just a little earlier than his Belgian competitor on Sunday, but the Dutch champion did not immediately have that feeling.

"I think you win", he says in the video that turned up to Van Aert, while he puts his arm around the shoulder of the Jumbo-Visma rider.

Van Aert does the same and says he does not know who won.

The moment between Van der Poel and Van Aert is special, because it is known that they do not have a close relationship with each other.

They have been each other's major rivals in cyclocross for years and now also meet on the road.

More than a week ago there was still a disagreement after Gent-Wevelgem.

The 25-year-old Dutch champion and the one year older Belgian were then mainly busy with each other in the final, which led to Mads Pedersen taking the victory.

Thank you to these two incredible riders who made a great show yesterday.

The photo show true sportsmanship.
