: a first setback for Real and Barça

Real Madrid, leaders of the Spanish league, lost their first match of the season, Saturday, October 17, at home against Cadiz (1-0).

Zinédine Zidane tried to change everything at half-time, with four changes at once, but nothing worked: Real were powerless against the Andalusians during this 6th day of the championship, the 5th game only for Real (1st, 10 pts, one game less).

FC Barcelona did not take advantage of this defeat.

The Catalans themselves lost in Getafe (1-0) and also signed their first defeat of the season.

French Barça striker Antoine Griezmann was disappointing again, notably missing a golden face-to-face at the half-hour mark, which could have changed the course of the match.

Lionel Messi also missed a huge opportunity in added time, hitting side after a surrender from Gerard Pique.

The big winner of the weekend is Atlético Madrid, winner at Celta Vigo 2-0, thanks in particular to a goal by his flagship rookie Luis Suarez, his 150th in 195 La Liga appearances.

Diego Simeone's team are now two points behind Real with one game less.

Real Sociedad and Villarreal, winners respectively of Betis Seville (3-0) and Valencia (2-1), for their part took the lead in the Spanish league on Sunday.

With eleven points on the clock, the two new leaders are one length ahead of Real Madrid, Getafe, Cadiz and Granada.

Real, Getafe and Granada, however, have one game less.

: Aston Villa on its momentum, Tottenham collapses

Aston Villa retained its perfect record by going to win late in Leicester (1-0), Sunday, October 18, for the fifth day of the Premier League.

With 12 points in four matches, they have one game less, against Manchester City, the Villans return to a length of Everton, held in check by Liverpool (2-2), while Leicester downgraded to 4th behind the Reds.

For its part, Tottenham missed a great opportunity to temporarily take a place on the podium by squandering a three-goal advantage against West Ham (3-3).

With 8 points, the Spurs must be content with 6th place and see their evening opponents come back to a length (8th).

The duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min had yet made their number in the first act, the Korean opening the scoring on an opening by the Englishman from the first minute (1-0).

The England center forward then added a brace which gave Tottenham a very comfortable lead as the first quarter of an hour had just ended (2-0, 8th and 3-0 , 16th).

But the Londoners ended up collapsing between the 82nd and 94th minutes, leaving coach José Mourinho stunned after the game.

  • Bundesliga

    : Bayern ensures

Bayern Munich continued their momentum in the German league.

The recent European champions beat the promoted Arminia Bielefeld (4-1) thanks to the doubles of Müller and Lewandowski.

This success for the Bavarians allows them to move up to second place in the standings, one point behind Leipzig.

At the same time, Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg parted with a score of 1-1.

Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to stay ahead of the Bundesliga with Leipzig, conceding a 1-1 draw in Cologne on Sunday.

Schalke scored his first point Sunday after four days, pulling a draw at home against Union Berlin (1-1), without stopping a descent into hell that began last season.

  • Serie A

    : Juve skates

Barely cured of Covid-19, the hungry Zlatan Ibrahimovic offered the Milan derby on Saturday to AC Milan (2-1), now the only leader of Serie A after the defeat of Atalanta Bergamo against an impressive team of Naples (4-1).

Juventus, three days before his Champions League debut against Dynamo Kiev, gave up two points on Saturday at the promoted Crotone (1-1), red lantern before this match.

Without Cristiano Ronaldo, in quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus earlier this week, Juventus has complicated its task.

She played for half an hour to ten after the exclusion of Federico Chiesa, the last-minute rookie in the transfer window, for his very first match with the Bianconeri.

The Old Lady is in fourth place in the championship.

Sassuolo, however, displays an insolent form, after taking only second place in the championship on Sunday by reversing a compromised situation in Bologna (4-3).

In the evening, AS Roma concluded the festival of goals by dominating the Benevento of "Pippo" Inzaghi (5-2), thanks to a brace from their captain Dzeko and goals from Pedro, Veretout and Pérez.
