Ingrid Kristiansen was the world's best long-distance runner during the 1980s and still holds the Norwegian records in the 5,000, 10,000 meters, half marathon and marathon.

She had the Norwegian record of 10 km street race at 30.57 until yesterday.

Then Grövdal ran at 30.32, a record improvement of a full 25 seconds on the distance which also has international status with official records.

It is the second best European time in the distance through the ages.

- It is probably the best race I have ever done in all categories: track races, street races or cross-country races, says Grövdal who has a seventh place at the Olympics in 5000 meters and EC bronze in both 3000 meters hurdles and 10000 meters.

Ingrid Kristiansen is happy with Grövdal.

- It's time for someone to beat my times, but in my time we never ran to break records for road running.

I ran to win my races, says Kristiansen.

As the cross-country skiing star Therese Johaug has also started athletics with success, she has received big headlines.

She won the Norwegian championships in 10,000 meters and cross-country running last autumn and ran 10,000 meters solo in 30.40.67 in a high-profile race at Bislett this summer.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen had nosebleeds and broke

Kristiansen emphasizes that she is not annoyed by Johaug's running jump, but that it is the media's coverage of her that is disturbing.

Kristiansen believes that the media is not able to highlight other Norwegian female athletes who perform at an international top level.

- It's very important.

We have many female athletes who have done well. The Johaug focus has made me insanely annoyed, says Kristiansen, whose personal record in the 10,000 meter track is 30.13.74, which was once a world record.

Grövdal's best track time is 31.14.07.

In the men's class, Jakob Ingebrigtsen broke (holds the track record from last year with 27.54) after wet nosebleeds before the start.

- I do not know what happened, says Ingebrigtsen.
