Officially, Zamalek is deprived of its star in the Raja meeting with the African champions

Egyptian Football Club Zamalek officially announced the absence of Tunisian star Ferjani Sassi from the important match next Sunday against its Moroccan host Raja Casablanca in the semi-finals of the African Champions League.

Zamalek confirmed in a press statement that the results of the new Corona virus test, which the player underwent yesterday, were positive.

The statement indicated that Sassi had not had contact with anyone else in the team’s mission since his arrival from Tunisia, where he was isolated in a separate room, and that he would undergo a second test.

He pointed out that the player came with reports confirming the negativity of the analyzes that were conducted for him in Tunisia while he was with his country's national team camp, "but we insisted that he conduct two analyzes before he was allowed to be with the team," after doubts were raised about his injury, especially because the Tunisian Federation did not respond to the correspondence made Zamalek sent her in order to send the results of the swabs he conducted with the national team.

Zamalek stressed the completion of the strict precautionary measures until the result of the second swab is known, in order to ensure the safety of all mission personnel.

Zamalek and Al-Raja, the Moroccan champion, will go to the golden square of the African competition on Sunday in Casablanca, with the return match to be held next Saturday on the 24th of this month in the Egyptian capital, while the other semi-final will witness another Moroccan-Egyptian confrontation between Wydad Casablanca and Al-Ahly, the Egyptian champion.

The Champions League is returning to complete the remaining matches after a hiatus of nearly seven months due to the spread of "Covid-19", which led to the imposition of a ban on movement between African countries that closed their borders to limit the spread of the pandemic.
