Wilco Kelderman is satisfied with the time trial he rode on Saturday in the fourteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia.

The Dutch rider of Team Sunweb lost little time on classification leader João Almeida and won a lot of time on the other competitors.

"I think I did a very good time trial. It was really difficult with those steep climbs, the classification and the rhythm, but I did well", said Kelderman in front of the

.

Kelderman finished ninth after more than 34 kilometers between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, 1.47 minutes behind the unapproachable winner Filippo Ganna.

He was sixteen seconds slower than Almeida and a minute faster than Vincenzo Nibali, among others.

"You might enjoy it, but it certainly didn't feel like that to me. The radio didn't work, so I had to take my ear off at some point. There's just so much going on in your head and on the road," said Kelderman .

'I am certainly impressed by Almeida'

Kelderman is cleverly second in the general classification after two weeks of racing.

In the third and final week he has to make up a delay of 56 seconds on Almeida.

Number three Pello Bilbao follows at 2.11 minutes from Almeida, which makes it seem like a battle for the pink.

"We will see how things will go in the next mountain stages and whether it is possible to pass Almeida", Kelderman, who had suffered a lot of bad luck in recent years, did not want to make any predictions.

"Actually, it will really start from tomorrow. There will still be forging within minutes. But I am certainly impressed by Almeida. It is amazing how he drives around here, especially at that age. In any case, I am going to do it for him. try to make it as difficult as possible. "
