In April this year, Hammarby handball had debts totaling SEK 3.8 million.

A debt that meant that the club risked falling into the league system.

- It would have been completely impossible to manage the elite license without their help, says Magnus Grahn to DN.

The help he is aiming for is the millions that a couple has given to the club.

The benefactors are a couple who, according to Grahn, have a big heart for the club.

However, there is a great deal of secrecy surrounding where the money comes from or who the couple is.

They want to remain anonymous.

- It has won a large sum of money, it is said.

I have heard different stories and can not confirm what is true, because I do not know how it got its money, says Grahn.

"I have no good word for it"

When SVT Sport talks to Hammarby handball's CEO Kalle Matsson, he does not want to call the money a donation.

- It is not a donation.

I do not want to go into that but a donation is not right.

They have the opportunity to get their money back later.

Is it a loan?

- No, I would not say that it is either.

It's not something I want to go into but it's not a loan or a donation.

I do not have a good word for it, but it has helped us a lot.

Should benefit the whole club

The money that is now available for Hammarby AB will mostly be for the men's a-team but will also affect the entire club in the long run.

- The biggest effect is the money if we are able to qualify for the Handball League in sports, says Kalle Matsson.

- In order not to end up in this situation again, we must build a better organization.

We need to focus more on that than we did before and focus more on sales.

Hammarby has started the season strong, and leads the series by ten points after five straight wins.

In the next round, they will receive second place Torslanda in what will be a league final.
