It was certainly six years since he played in the world's best league, with the New York Knicks, but he really got to experience the NBA from the inside.

Teammate with Carmelo Anthony and matches against names like LeBron James, Ray Allen, Dwayne Wade and more.

- I got to play against all the big names and live my dream.

I am eternally grateful for that, says Murry to SVT Sport from his new hometown Luleå.

An unexpected and exotic stop in a motley career that after a few sluggish attempts at two other NBA clubs, the Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards, led him to Europe and a role as a commercial traveler in the basketball industry.

Jordan is the role model

He has played in Turkey, Germany, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Italy and most recently Portugal before the corona pandemic.

The long break and the world situation opened up for a debut in the Swedish basketball league where he is supposed to replace the star Brandon Rozzell who left for games in Cyprus.

- I think the club expects us to win the championship, says Murry when asked what he thinks Luleå wants to get out of him.

- I am a person who likes the decisive moments, a steal, a block or a match-winning shot, says the Texas-born guard, who plays with number 23 just like the great role model Michael Jordan.

In the first training match for his new club, just a week after arrival, he offered a glimpse of his arsenal, with 18 points in some playing time and above all a couple of late three-point shots in a pressured situation when Luleå defeated Umeå 100-89.

More is to be expected.
