It was during a training on August 28 that the accident happened.

A teammate's ski boot cut a large jack on Jonas Ahnelöv's neck below the ear, above the neck protection.

Ahnelöv was taken by ambulance to the hospital and was told that it was only millimeters from the carotid artery.

- On the ice it was mostly blood, but the big shock for me came when the doctor told me how lucky I was.

Suddenly it was a bit like between life and death, the 32-year-old told TT in September.

The Tre Kronor- and KHL-merited hill then told about his difficult time after the accident, and that he would talk to a psychologist before it became relevant with games.

He also said that he had given a lot of thought to his future.

- I have sat down and asked if it is worth continuing with ice hockey, but came pretty quickly to the conclusion that I wanted to continue.

This is what I am doing, said Ahnelöv.

It took about five weeks from the nasty incident until Ahnelöv was back in full training with his teammates in Leksand.

Almost two more weeks later, he made the season's first SHL appearance in the away meeting with Oskarshamn.

"Means a lot"

Something that pleased coach Björn Hellkvist.

- It means a lot.

He's one of our captains and one of our most experienced players.

There is a leader in the group, so we are very happy that Jonas is back.

Mostly for his sake, but of course it means a lot to Leksand, Hellkvist told C More before the match.

Now, however, there was a loss in Ahnelöv's return.

But after all, zero points away against Oskarshamn in the seventh round of the season is supposed to be a narrow thing in comparison with what has happened.

Audience record

Leksand took the lead at the end of the first period, but in the second Oskarshamn turned to 3-2, among other things since the hill Pontus Näsén - raised in Leksand rival Mora - scored his first two SHL goals in his career.

It founded the victory for Oskarshamn.

Oskarshamn also noted the season's best audience figure:

83 people were on site in the stands to support the home team.

This is after the club received permission from the police to let people into the lodges, and thus get a few more people in than the 50-ceiling stipulated due to the corona pandemic, writes Barometern.
