Despite Sweden falling 0-3 against Portugal, and being last in the group on zero points, the hope of staying in the Nations League A division still lives on after Croatia also fell against France.

France took the lead already in the eighth minute when Antoine Griezmann got hold of a failed clearance and with a powerful shot sent in 1-0.

Croatia played up

The last 24 national team matches where Griezmann has scored have all ended with a French victory.

Just like tonight.

In the second half, however, Croatia got more and more into the game and it eventually paid off against an increasingly passive France.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris did not have much to say about when Nikola Vlasic with a quick shot put 1-1 in the 65th minute.

Digne assisted Mbappe

But soon France would wake up again.

With 79 minutes played, a phenomenal play on the left side freed Lucas Digne, of Kylian Mbappe, to dash through and score another goal for the visitors.

He made no mistakes and was able to send in the final result 2-1 up close.

France and Portugal thus have 13 points each.

Croatia is third in the group with three recorded points.

Two matches remain for Sweden, they meet Croatia at home and France away.
