The France Espoirs team struggled to beat Slovakia (1-0) and took a big step towards qualifying for Euro-2021, Monday in Strasbourg.

Les Bleuets, who won thanks to a goal from Jules Koundé (22nd), temporarily join Switzerland at the top of group 2 with 21 points but the Helvetians have one game less than they will play on Tuesday against modest Liechtenstein, swept away ( 5-0) by the Habs on Thursday.

The evening could have been even more beautiful without the potentially serious injury of the young defender of Saint-Etienne Yvann Maçon.

The 22-year-old full-back, who was living his second selection and his first tenure with the Bleuets, went out on a stretcher in the 42nd minute and spent long minutes at the edge of the pitch under a survival blanket, before being evacuated from the stadium in an ambulance during half-time.

The first news is not good

“The huge downside is Yvann's injury.

We fear a serious injury.

He was in so much pain that we could not exchange [when he went out on a stretcher], ”lamented French coach Sylvain Ripoll after the meeting.

After a contact that seemed harmless with a Slovak striker, the right knee of the Stéphanoise revelation at the start of the season turned and the player gave a chilling howl of pain.

According to

L'Equipe

, the player could suffer from a dislocated right knee that would keep him away from the field for many months.

The player is due to take tests on Tuesday at the hospital to find out more.
