China News Service, October 13th. On the 12th Beijing time, the World Badminton Federation updated the changes to the world ranking rules and the relevant instructions on the qualifications for the year-end finals this season.

In this year's competition, the competitions that count the world ranking points include: 2020 DANISA Denmark Open, 2020 German Sassuolo Open, 2020 Latvia YONEX Cup International, 2020 Bulgaria International Challenge.

It is worth mentioning that the points can only be applied after the world ranking has been thawed.

The thawing time needs to be determined after further discussion.

The lottery and seed lottery for the remaining games of the 2020 season will be based on the previously frozen world rankings (March 17, 2020).

This applies to the remaining level 3 events this year, as well as the Asian stage of the BWF World Tour in January 2021.

Due to the changes in the 2020 Tour schedule (postponing the 2020 World Badminton World Federation Thomas and Uber Cup finals, canceling the Danish Masters, and postponing the Asian tournament to January 2021), the original plan "tentative world Ranking" will no longer apply.

In addition, the BWF World Tour Finals qualification rules have also changed.

Unlike the past, since there are no world championships and Olympics this year, there is no automatic invitation qualification for world champions (World Tour Regulations, Article 8.2.3), and only the points obtained in the World Tour are included in the calculation. .

Points for the 2020 German Open will not be counted as qualifying points.

Future DANISA Denmark Open 2020 (HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 series), Asian Open I 2020 (HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 series), Asian Open II 2020 (HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 series) three events Points that have not been played will be linked to qualification for the finals.

Due to the necessary adjustments to the original European and Asian seasons and the original planned safety and epidemic prevention procedures, athletes do not need to participate in the European and Asian competitions at the same time, but can still be eligible to participate in the HSBC World Badminton World Tour 2020 finals.

Athletes must qualify for the 2020 Asian Open I and 2020 Asian Open II in order to qualify for the finals of the season.

Athletes must arrive in Thailand within the specified time (to be confirmed) before the start of the 2020 Asian Open I.

Due to safety and epidemic prevention requirements, athletes are not allowed to arrive late (for example, during the 2020 Asian Open I or Asian Open II).

The BWF will also share more news about the world rankings and the unfreezing of the Asian Tournament at a later date.
