, positive for Covid-19, the Mitchelton-Scott team decided on Tuesday to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia, after the four cases detected in its coaching staff.
A hard blow for the race, which today also confirmed the positives of two other cyclists, one from the Sunweb and the other from the Jumbo-Visma.
According to the organization, the 571 PCR tests on runners and team members throughout Sunday and Monday yielded eight positive cases, which were immediately isolated from the rest of the peloton.
"Fortunately, our team's positives are asymptomatic or with very mild symptoms. However, health remains our top priority, so we have focused on getting them to the most comfortable place possible to complete their quarantine period," explained
