Jordan Cup championship cancellation and new measures to complete the league

The Jordan Football Association, through the emergency committee, decided to cancel the Jordan Cup for the current season, and to issue new instructions to ensure the completion of the 2020 season tournaments, in light of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, which was held Sunday through the closed circuit technology, the committee studied the variables of government procedures in dealing with the pandemic, to decide to stop work on the emergency matrix announced by the Union last August.

A statement on the union’s website quoted the Federation’s Secretary General, Samar Nassar, that the instructions included the sustainability of the activity, and regulatory and health measures aimed at preserving public safety.

In light of the pressure of the league matches and the lack of time available to end the 2020 season, the emergency committee decided to cancel the Jordan Cup, and to use the periods previously specified for it, to complete the league competitions, and to reduce the pressure of the meetings, in order to end the current season in the first half of January 2021.

Nassar also confirmed, according to the statement, that in light of the increasing number of infections among the tournament teams with the new Corona virus, it was decided to allow the number of players registered in the match detection to increase to 23 players, at least three of them from the age groups, and in the minimum detection limit by (15) players including at least one goalkeeper, with all players of the category team under 20 years allowed to participate with the first team, along with seven players from the category under 17 years, with any team losing 0-3, if it does not score the minimum In revealing the match.

The emergency committee decided to "exclude any player who is confirmed to be infected with the Coronavirus, subjecting his team and all contacts to urgent checks, in addition to the usual periodic checks," according to Nassar, which pointed out that the clubs are allowed to appoint a temporary replacement, for any member who is confirmed to be infected by the technical, administrative or medical staff.

In a related context, the committee decided to cancel all age groups' tournaments for professional clubs and for all classes for the current season.
