Tokyo Olympics, which have been postponed until next year, have a lot to deal with not only coronavirus, but also radiation problems and heat waves.

That is why the Korea Sports Association has entrusted the research service, but looking at the contents so far, it seems that the association is more concerned about how to avoid responsibility when a problem arises rather than the safety of the players.

Reporter Kim Hyung-yeol covered it.

The Korea Sports Association signed a contract for research service in February with 100 million won to prepare for a possible crisis in the athletes at the Tokyo Olympics.

But the study went in a strange direction.

Although the researchers rank Corona 19 as the biggest risk factor, they are conducting research without experts on infectious diseases.

Corona was not even mentioned in the three reports submitted by the researchers.

In the event of a crisis, there are no safety measures for athletes, and only strategies for responding to public opinion of the athletic meet are listed in detail.

It also included strategies to use civic groups that are not hostile to sports events, and to meet with reporters with officials who can analyze hostility and receive cooperation from the media as well, or to publish advertisements to restore the image of sports events in newspapers.

In addition, the focus was on easing public opinion by emphasizing the responsibility of the Japan Olympic Committee in the event of a conflict between Korea and Japan over Dokdo and the Rising Sun Flag.

[Yoo Jeong-ju/ Democratic Party Member (National Assembly literary committee): Currently, it cannot be considered as a (research) service for athletes, and the Korean Sports Association has changed to establishing a strategy for avoiding (blame) when public opinion is infested. ] The

sports association said that as there is still a period of research service remaining, it will include crisis management measures such as Corona 19 in the future.

The athletic meet, which spent a whopping 4.3 billion won on various research services for two years since 2018, is under suspicion of wasting national blood taxes.
