Dubai Sports Council and Fit Group Middle East continue to prepare for the first of its kind “Al Marmoom Run on Sand Dunes Race” to be held in cooperation with Dubai Municipality. Its competitions will be hosted by the Marmoom Nature Reserve on November 13th, and extends for five kilometers over the charming dunes with soft sand. Amidst the picturesque desert nature and the unique Al Qudra lakes.

A press release from the Dubai Sports Council said yesterday: “The Dubai Sports Council has invited all those wishing to participate to attend free training sessions on October 23 and 30, and the training sessions are held on sand dunes in the Al Marmoom Desert Reserve at 6 am, and supervised by professional trainer Daniel Borneventure, Director of Racing in Fit Group, and these exercises will be open to all runners of all physical levels and experiences, whether professionals specializing in desert running or runners on the usual roads.

Participation can be in four categories, namely the professional category for men, the professional category for women, the open category for men and the open category for women. Contestants under the age of 18 years will have to obtain the approval of their parents to participate, and at the end of the race, participants will receive distinguished medals, and winners will be awarded The first three places in each category, male and female, receive valuable prizes.

"The contestants challenge their abilities to run along a five-kilometer path through sand dunes and around lakes in the Al Marmoom Desert Reserve," the statement said. "The race also supports the environmental commitment of the Al Marmoom Desert Reserve, one of the best tourist destinations and the seat of the world's leading desert sports."

Discover heritage landmarks

Dubai Sports Council said that the participants in the race will have an experience to discover the landmarks of the Emirati heritage, most notably the Saruq Al-Hadid archaeological site in the reserve, which is more than 3,000 years old, and is one of the oldest archaeological sites in the country dating back to the Iron Age.
