The former ski star's biathlon venture is probably one of the year's most surprising news in winter sports Sweden.

And the reactions have been many.

- It has been very mixed, but I would still say that there have been overwhelmingly positive reactions, says Stina Nilsson.

- And I really want to convey that to the common man;

To dare to take the step of doing what you really want yourself, no matter what people will think.

It's something I'll never regret anyway.

No matter what people think, I will always stand for that message.

Brave - or?

TT: But there have been negative reactions as well?

- I have not taken to myself but there have definitely been others ... Profiles in the media who criticized the election, but I have chosen not to take part in those statements.

TT: At the same time, many people think that you have made a brave decision, do you feel that way?

- For me, it is so obvious to be able to do what I want - and then it can go as it goes.

So I do not think there is any direct courage in it, or yes, it is probably brave perhaps to dare to go his own way.

Positive experience

Speaking of going her own way, Stina Nilsson, during her time at the cross-country national team, stood out because she did not have a personal trainer but took care of most things herself.

TT: How does it work now, in biathlon?

- I still feel that even though we are a team that runs basically the same, we are our own coach because it is we who live in our bodies and push ourselves every session.

No coach can do that, but we have to get ourselves through this pain on a tough interval workout.
