International Gymnastics Tournament To be held in Japan for the first time in the Olympic Games after the spread of corona infection October 11, 6:09

After the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the first international gymnastics competition in Japan will be held in Tokyo next month.

By conducting quarantine and PCR tests for athletes participating from overseas for two weeks in each country, adjustments are being made to participate in the tournament without a waiting period of 14 days after entering Japan.

The Tokyo Olympics have been postponed for one year due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and the competition in Japan that accepts athletes from overseas has not yet been held.

Under these circumstances, the International Gymnastics Federation decided to hold an international competition at Yoyogi Daiichi Gymnasium in Tokyo on the 8th of next month, accepting athletes from the United States, Russia and China for the first time in Japan.

32 people including Japan are scheduled to participate in this tournament, and according to the people concerned, overseas athletes will be quarantined for 2 weeks before departure in each country and will be subjected to regular PCR tests. It means that they will be coming to Japan one after another from the day before, and adjustments are being made so that they will not wait for 14 days after coming to Japan.

On the other hand, during the stay in Japan, in principle, we do not allow activities other than the venue and hotel where competitions and practice are held, and we will use vehicles that are fixed for each country during the period.

In addition, the tournament is scheduled to accept about 2,000 spectators, which is 10% of the seats accommodated at the venue, and it will be watched whether it will be a role model for immigration control of athletes and infection prevention measures in anticipation of next year's Tokyo Olympics.

The International Gymnastics Federation will hold a press conference in Tokyo on the 12th to announce the specific content of the competition.
