The
Sant Llorenç des Cardassar City Council
has proposed to the municipal plenary
session
to
make the athlete
Rafa Nadal an
adoptive son
for his
involvement in the torrent
that hit the Llevant region in Mallorca two years ago and caused 13 fatalities and numerous material losses.
The Sant Llorenç City Council highlights the support they received from the tennis player who helped the neighbors by
reducing water
, also for their
economic contribution
that served to cover the damage caused as well as the creation of solidarity events such as a race.
Through a statement, the city council has also highlighted the "
immense affection and humility
" of the athlete towards the municipality of Sant Llorenç and that is why they will declare him an adopted son.
In addition, the mayor of Sant Llorenç,
Mateu Puigròs
, and his government team have proposed naming a street with his name.
This Friday a file has been presented with his appointment as adopted son that will be taken to the plenary session, municipal sources have reported.
