Real Madrid goalkeeper withdraws from the Belgium squad

The Belgian Football Association announced today that its goalkeeper and the Spanish team, Real Madrid, Tibo Courtois, are "not physically ready" for the next three matches of the "Red Devils".

The Belgian Federation confirmed that it became clear that Courtois, after undergoing medical examinations, was "not ready" for matches against the Ivory Coast in a friendly Thursday and England on Sunday and Iceland next Wednesday in the European Nations League.

Courtois’s withdrawal surprised many observers, especially as he was at his peak last weekend in the match against Levante in the Spanish League.

Several Belgian media reported that this withdrawal is part of the tension between the Belgian Federation and the Royal Club.

The Spanish coach of the Belgian national team, Roberto Martinez, had summoned the royal midfielder, Eden Hazard, to the Red Devils squad, although he was recovering from an injury, a decision that did not live up to the officials of the Spanish capital.

Courtois, 28, had left his country's squad to return to Real Madrid during his training camp during the previous international break last September.

At the time, the Belgian Federation did not provide any justification for leaving after it denied that he was infected with the emerging coronavirus.
