The state of health of young defender Dayot Upamecano, victim of “gastric problems” during France-Ukraine (7-1) on Wednesday, prompted coach Didier Deschamps to call in Kurt Zouma for the next two matches, announced the Federation.

“I called Kurt Zouma who will join us tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

There is a small problem with Dayot Upamecano who did not feel well at half-time ”and was replaced by Raphaël Varane, Deschamps indicated at a press conference.

The Federation specified that Upamecano would however remain with the France group, Zouma being called in addition.

Rabiot finally available

The Blues management also announced that Madrid defender Ferland Mendy and Turin midfielder Adrien Rabiot would join the France group on Thursday for France-Portugal on Sunday and Croatia-France on October 14 in the League of Nations.

The first replaces Léo Dubois as planned, tested positive for Covid-19 and withdrawn on Wednesday.

The second, called in the initial list, had to respect several days of quarantine because he was "contact case" within Juventus Turin.

The Blues will therefore be 25 from Thursday.
