Six players from the Ukraine team will miss the friendly match against France on Wednesday in Paris, after an outbreak of the new coronavirus within their club Shakhtar Donetsk, the Ukrainian football association announced on Monday.

Goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov and midfielder Taras Stepanenko tested positive, forcing the placement into isolation for the whole club including four other national team players, Mykola Matviienko, Viktor Kovalenko, Marlos and Junior Moraes.

Waiting for new results

“All Shakhtar representatives will isolate themselves,” the club said in a statement, adding that its staff and players would be screened again within four days.

Depending on the result of these new tests, it will be decided whether the six athletes will be able to join the Ukrainian team for the preparations for the next Nations League matches against Germany (October 10) and Spain. (October 13), according to the association.
