Last week, it became official that the New York Rangers buy out Henrik Lundqvist from his contract, which he had one year left on.

- During his 15 years, he has not only established himself as one of the best goalkeepers ever, but has also been one of ice hockey's greatest competitive people and an effective ambassador.

He will always be part of the Rangers family, said club owner James Dolan.

A sequel?

But it is far from certain that 38-year-old Henrik Lundqvist will end his career.

In a post on his Instagram, he writes:

“I still love to compete.

I love the sport and I still want to WIN! ”

What the post means is still unclear.

The Swede played 887 regular season games and 130 playoff games with Rangers and he can sign for any club from October 9, when the open market begins in the NHL.
