Djurgården publishes the news on its website.

There, the sports director and acting CEO Joakim Eriksson thank the players for their loyalty and goodwill.

- I am extremely proud of our players.

They have a big Djurgården heart and have a great sense of responsibility based on the financial situation that has arisen that both Djurgården and other teams in the SHL are experiencing right now.

We, just like other elite clubs in Sweden, are grappling with the economic challenge that the pandemic entails this season and for the future.

We have had players and large parts of the office laid off until the season started and now we have agreed with the player squad on a financial concession, says Eriksson.

Djurgården's players are the first in the SHL to agree to waive variable parts of the salary.

- There are two championships being held now.

One on the ice and one outside.

It is important to master both, says Joakim Eriksson about the situation.
