Algerian Balamri approaches Lyon, France

Algerian international defender Jamal Balamri will move to the ranks of French club Lyon on a free contract, according to the French health, L'Equipe, on Monday.

The widely circulated newspaper wrote that Balamari: "He conducted his medical examination and will sign a one-year contract with an additional option."

The 30-year-old defender, who won the African Nations Cup with his country, had left the Saudi Al-Shabab club.

Last September, the Riyadh city team announced the cancellation of Balamari's contract at his request, and his name was linked at that time with joining Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr and Al-Ahly.

Lyon officials hastened the arrival of Balamri after the Brazilian defender Marcelo was injured on Sunday in the local league against Marseille (1-1) and the departure of the Danish defender Joachim Andersen approached.

It will be the first European experience for the center of defense, after working with Nasr Hussein Day, JSK and ES Setif.

Balamari's possible arrival coincides with the arrival of Italian full-back Mattia de Sciglio from Juventus, the Italian champions, in the last nine seasons.
