6 players from Shakhtar will miss the Ukraine and France friendly due to Corona

The Ukrainian team will play a friendly match tomorrow, Wednesday, against its French counterpart, the world champion in Paris, without Shakhtar Danetsk, after the latter entered a self-quarantine as a result of two of its players were found to be infected with the new Corona virus, according to what the local Football Association announced on Monday.


Ukraine's squad was supposed to include six Shakhtar Danjystik players in Wednesday's match, but the champions announced late Sunday that their goalkeeper Andrei Pyatov and midfielder Taras Stepanenko had been infected with the "Covid-19" virus.


Because of these two cases, "all Shakhtar representatives will enter self-quarantine," according to what the Ukrainian federation reported, revealing that all staff working in the team, including the players, will undergo a second examination within four days.


The Ukrainian Federation said that the other four players with the national team, Mykola Matvienko, Viktor Kovalenko, Marlos and Junior Morayes, will be absent from the trip to Paris.


He pointed out that additional checks scheduled for Monday and Thursday will reveal if the six players can join the national team to participate in the two European Nations League matches scheduled in Kiev against Germany on the 10th of this month and Spain three days later.


The number of people infected with "Covid-19" virus in Ukraine reached 230,000, while the number of deaths exceeded 4,400 people.
