Ronald Koeman has suffered his first loss of points as coach of FC Barcelona.
The Catalans remained 1-1 against Sevilla on Sunday, for which Luuk de Jong opened the score.
Sergiño Dest made his debut at Barcelona fifteen minutes before the end.
Koeman started his job at Barcelona with convincing league victories over Villarreal (4-0) and Celta de Vigo (0-3).
Europa League winner Sevilla, which also turned the first two games into a win, turned out to be of a different order.
After just eight minutes, it was Luuk de Jong who gave Koeman his first goal against in competition.
The striker got the ball in front of his feet after a corner and shot into the roof of the goal via the fingertips of the keeper.
Barcelona, with Frenkie de Jong in the base, only needed two minutes to recover from the shock.
Sevilla captain Jesús Navas unintentionally put the ball on a silver platter at Philippe Coutinho and that mistake cost him dear.
Barcelona was unable to push through after that and saw that Sevilla was the parent in large parts of the match.
Only in the final phase did the home team insist, but more than one point turned out not to be possible.
Despite the loss of points, it was a good evening for Sergiño Dest.
The defender, who made the switch from Ajax for twenty million euros this week, was allowed to fill in for the injured left back Jordi Alba fifteen minutes before time.
