Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain, Inter Miami's flagship rookie this summer, demanded Thursday that his MLS opponents show him "respect" after his debut marred by a scuffle last Sunday.

"I felt it was a lack of respect and I reacted," Higuain said of the altercation between him Sunday against the Philadelphia Union players, who heated him after a penalty missed.

“I believe in fair play.

I am an emotional person and I could neither accept nor tolerate it.

Five players were on me, it's provocation, ”he regretted.

The 32-year-old forward was mocked by the Philadelphia players after missing a penalty that would have allowed his side to come back to 2-1 in the 77th minute.

His failure precipitated the collapse of Miami, ultimately beaten 3-0.

After this defeat, the American franchise of David Beckham points to the penultimate place in the standings of the Eastern Conference.

Higuain, annoyed by the mocking demeanor of his opponents, had an altercation with at least five opponents for his first outing with Inter Miami since his spectacular move from Juventus last month.
