The Games Organizing Committee will take measurements on the 10th and 11th of this month in order to be certified by the World Athletics Federations for the Tokyo Olympics marathon and racewalking courses to be held in Sapporo next year.

This was revealed at the Games Organizing Committee held on the 2nd and at working-level meetings such as Sapporo City.



At the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for next year, racewalking will be held on August 5th and 6th, and marathons will be held on August 7th and 8th in Sapporo, respectively.



Qualified measurers must accurately measure the distance of the course to hold marathons and racewalks, and the Games Organizing Committee will measure at midnight when traffic is light on the 10th and 11th of this month. It was.



Three people from the World Athletics Federation and three people from the Japan Association of Athletics Federations will participate in the measurement, and four of them will ride their bicycles to measure the distance.



The Organizing Committee of the Games will make adjustments based on this measurement and proceed to the procedure for accreditation as a course, and if all goes well, it is expected to be accredited by the World Athletics Federation around the end of November.
