On Thursday, Byström had a meeting with the World Cup Committee of the International Ski Federation (Fis).

There was information about how to work to be able to complete the competition season as planned.

- I think we can promise a ski season because we are so safe.

All organizers have agreed to try to arrange competitions, even if it would be without an audience, Byström says.

However, there may be problems with the countries' different entry restrictions.

- Fis works directly with the authorities in the various countries to have the opportunity to pick up the USA and Russia to the countries that have restrictions for them.

Then it is up to each organizer to work against their government or authority to persuade them to let go of the restrictions, says Byström.

Enough with seven out of ten

For example, the Swedish government does not currently allow Russian elite athletes to come here, which means that Sweden lost a football international match in October and the World Cup competition in biathlon in Östersund in December.

- It may be relevant for us as well, so we must continue to work from our organizers (Ulricehamn and Falun) so we get all countries here, Byström says.

- Fis also has a rule that at least seven nations among the top ten-ranked must have the opportunity to come to the competition site for the competition to be conducted.

It must be decided 30 days before each World Cup competition.

And if the restrictions change the days before arrival, it counts as force majeure and then the competition can be conducted with fewer nations as well.

Finland has already given the go-ahead to all nations to attend the World Cup premiere in Ruka on 27-29 November.

Decision on Saturday

There is, of course, a concern among the organizers about whether to get the authorities' permission to bring all skiers to the competitions.

- But what they are perhaps most worried about is that they do not know if all countries will bring their national teams.

Fis clearly pressed that all of us nations should do everything to get to every competition weekend.

The length committee in Fis will discuss these issues on Friday and on Saturday the ski association's board will make a decision.

The decision to implement the ban on fluoride has been postponed for a week.
