Stina Nilsson is together with the rest of the biathlon national team at a camp in Sollefteå.

Her rehab training since the fracture in her elbow is progressing as planned.

- I think it's going well.

This is the first time I have been involved and also shoot lying down, the former longitude star tells TT.

Until now, when it has been almost six weeks since the injury occurred during a training session on roller skis, she has only been able to shoot standing - now she also runs certain parts with two poles, which she has not been able to do before.

- It is not quite one hundred percent.

It is important that you are still humble and take it in small steps and do not do too much.

"Great experience"

On November 14-15, she will do her first competition as a biathlete, at a national competition in Idre.

- This is the first stop.

It will be a great experience, I still have not competed.

We have run competition-like training sessions, but I absolutely realize that I have to compete and see what my strengths and weaknesses are as a biathlete, because I actually do not know.

What awaits next remains to be seen.

Previously, the idea was that Stina Nilsson would compete in the IBU Cup, the level during the World Cup, but there all competitions were canceled until the turn of the year due to the pandemic.

Instead, the possibility of running the World Cup has been opened up, after the International Biathlon Federation (IBU) temporarily changed the rules and let each nation line up with two skiers on the women's and men's side within their regular quota that does not have the formal qualification (which you get through just the IBU Cup) until Christmas.

"Good solution"

But Stina Nilsson tones down any hopes of seeing her in the World Cup circus already this year.

- I do not think it will be relevant in the beginning.

But I absolutely think that it is great for the biathlon sport in general and that it was a great solution by the IBU.

TT: But can it be a carrot for you that the opportunity exists?

- As I said, I think it is a good solution by IBU.

Sweden has six places on the women's side in the World Cup.

During the first weekend, Elisabeth Högberg also has a personal place due to her victory in the IBU Cup last year, which means that Sweden can line up with seven skiers.

The World Cup starts on November 28 in Kontiolahti, Finland.
