After several sharp interventions, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno had to show up in the penalty shootout against Liverpool.

First he stopped Divock Origi's attempt and when he then saved Harry Wilson's penalty - then Joseph Willock got the chance to decide for the away team.

The 21-year-old took advantage of that opportunity.

Admittedly, Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian was on the penalty, but when the ball still ended up on the other side of the goal line, Arsenal were ready for further play in the league cup.

League Championship team Brentford - with Saman Ghoddos from the start and Pontus Jansson on the bench - arranged a nice scalp when they won at home against Premier League team Fulham with 3-0.

Finland's Marcus Forss scored 1-0 in the 37th minute - played by Ghoddos - and Said Benrahma accounted for the team's remaining goal.

Brentford's league teammate Stoke did not want to be worse.

Thanks to Sam Voke's goal in the 26th minute, the away match with Aston Villa from the top division ended with a 1-0 victory.
