Mikako Kotani becomes the new sports director of the Tokyo Olympics and Para Organizing Committee September 30, 15:43

Mikako Kotani, an Olympic bronze medalist, will be appointed as the sports director of the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, who will be responsible for disseminating information to the outside world as the face of the competition division.

This was announced by the Organizing Committee on the 30th.



Mr. Kotani, who will become the new sports director of the Organizing Committee, is 54 years old from Setagaya Ward, Tokyo.



At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, he won a bronze medal in both solo and duet of synchronized swimming, which is now renamed artistic swimming.



He retired from active duty in 1992 and is currently a director of the JOC = Japanese Olympic Committee, and has been selected as one of the deputy mayors of the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.



The sports director of the Organizing Committee is responsible for negotiations with the IOC and domestic and overseas sports organizations and dissemination of external information as the face of the sports department, and Mr. Koji Murofushi, who has served for more than 6 years, becomes the new secretary of the Japan Sports Agency I had selected a successor to take office.
