Not everyone is in the Victor Hedman tribute choir.

Nicklas Lidström, one of Swedish ice hockey's biggest with, among other things, four Stanley Cup rings from the heyday of the Detroit Red Wings, is impressed by his 20-year-younger heir.

- He has only gotten better and better the longer the playoffs have gone.

In the finals he has played a lot, where you have to be on top both offensively and defensively against the opponents' best players, and despite that he has delivered ten goals as a fullback.

It is impressive, says Nicklas Lidström to SVT Sport.

"Must be the best"

Hedman will now be the third Swede in history to win Conn Smythe Tropy, together with Nicklas Lidström and Henrik Zetterberg.

An even heavier award to win as a fullback, according to Lidström.

- You have to be the best actually, to get that award.

Above all, you must be able to lift yourself when it comes to.

Some get nervous, but he has proven he can.

I also think he could have won the Norris Trophy (NHL's best defender) also because he has really established himself as a top defender in the NHL, says Lidström, who won the Norris Trophy no less than seven times.

Lidström thinks that Hedman has grown into a complete defender in the world's best league.

- We played against each other a few times when he was new to the NHL.

He may have had a slightly longer starting distance than others, but when he figured out how to play, he took his game to the extreme.

He has an incredible understanding of the game, and is a fantastic skater.

Then he is like a workhorse.

The more he plays, the better he gets.

"Do not be so fast"

The Swedish big hill also sees similarities between himself and Hedman.

- I was not as fast as him, but very mobile and he also carries a lot of ice time as I did.

You see how important he is to his team.

Lidström believes that Hedman will continue to be one of the league's best players.

And maybe even better.

- I think he will be at this level for several years to come.

Tampa has a strong team that can always go all the way.

Victor will probably be the leading player who always delivers when the team achieves success, he says.
