The stages of Wednesday and Friday in the BinckBank Tour have been canceled due to the measures announced against the corona virus in the Netherlands on Monday.
The riders would complete a time trial of 11 kilometers in Vlissingen on Wednesday.
On Friday there was a 195.4 kilometer hilly stage on the program, with Sittard-Geleen as the finish.
The cabinet announced on Monday that for the next three weeks (from 6 pm on Tuesday) no public will be welcome at competitions in amateur and professional sports.
According to the municipalities of Sittard-Geleen, Terneuzen and Vlissingen, it is therefore impossible to continue the stages.
"It was a painful, but necessary decision to prevent the spread of the virus," said Mayor Bas van den Tillaar of the municipality of Vlissingen in an initial reaction.
The BinckBank Tour had started on Tuesday with a flat stage of 132 kilometers.
Jasper Philipsen sprinted to victory and can call himself the first leader in the general classification.
