The International Biathlon Federation IBU decided on Saturday to move the World Cup competitions in Östersund 3-6 December.

Instead of holding the season's first four competitions in four different locations, the four competitions will only be held in Finnish Kontiolahti and Austrian Hochfilzen.

According to the IBU, the decision will be made to ensure the health of practitioners and to minimize logistical risks due to travel.

- It is disappointed that the government does not make an exception for elite athletes.

It is clear that they do not take sports seriously, biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson has told SVT Sport.

"The question is extremely important"

On Monday, the Swedish Biathlon Federation held a live broadcast due to the IBU's decision.

- We have wanted to convey to the government that professional athletes should be seen as other professionals and should be able to make exceptions from the entry ban that prevails from certain countries and nationalities, says Rikard Grip, general secretary of the biathlon association.

- We have not received an answer to that, which is the big reason why we can not host the World Cup in December.

The biathlon federation has not received any reactions from the government following the IBU's decision.

- We continue to work hard to bring about a dialogue.

The issue is extremely important, says Rikard Grip.
