Vardy's hat-trick leads Leicester to a 5-2 win over Manchester City

Jimmy Vardy scored a hat-trick as Leicester City beat Manchester City 5-2 and continues to top the Premier League with a full score with nine points from three matches on Sunday.

City seemed to dominate the match after taking an early goal thanks to a powerful shot by Riyad Mahrez in the net of his former team in the fourth minute, and the superiority continued until Vardy drew with a penalty kick.

Vardy kicked hard into the top corner in the 37th minute after being mistaken by Kyle Walker and then added the second goal after a superb close-range touch past goalkeeper Ederson in the 54th minute.

Four minutes later, Vardy completed the hat-trick from another penalty after he was hit by a new foul inside the area from Eric Garcia.

The score was 4-1 through substitute James Madison thanks to a powerful shot from 20 meters before Nathan Ackee narrowed the lead with a header for City.

But with Vardy suffering from a muscle injury and being knocked off the field, Yuri Telemans scored the fifth goal from the match's third penalty kick in the 88th minute to conclude the goals festival.

The result halted a series of 11 consecutive matches unbeaten City at home in the Premier League and since last season, and is the team's first loss in its opening game at home in the competition since a 2-1 stumble against Southampton in 1989.
