On June 14, Anna Hasselborg became the mother of her daughter Mira.

Despite that, she has already been running for a while and trained hard, and made a comeback last week at a competition in Switzerland - which the team won.

"Be a little sloppy"

When did the first workout take place?

Not at all long after she became a mother.

- I tried a little "chins" (an exercise where you hang on a bar and pull up the body) a few days after the birth, I just had to feel how it felt, she says with a laugh.

How did it feel then?

- Felt like my stomach was not really there, because I was a bit sloppy hahaha.

"Completely natural"

Starting to train hard early after birth was an obvious decision for the 31-year-old.

- It actually was.

I thought about it before, but once it was time for it, it was completely natural for me.

Somehow it would have been more unnatural to "stay", she says.

Employees of the curling association

But Hasselborg has, of course, been free a lot.

And then she has received a benefit that is obvious to many Swedes - but not to so many elite athletes.

- This summer, where I have not competed and trained as much, I have been entitled to parental leave as an ordinary person, she says with a big smile.

The reason for this is that she, her teammates in Team Hasselborg and the players in Team Edin (men's national team) since last season are employed by the Swedish Curling Association, in a project carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK).

"The puzzle of life must work"

Since then, all the teams' income (sponsorship income and prize money) is collected in a pot, from where salaries are then paid to the players.

And with that comes some benefits such as pension points and the like.

- It has given a sense of security and calm, says Hasselborg.

- Many athletes talk about this, but it's true: The puzzle of life must work.

And this is an important part for us and our life puzzle.

So it has meant a great deal.

Especially at a time when female athletes have lost their sponsors (when they became pregnant and had children), our sponsors have been very positive.

If you had not had this solution, how would it have affected you?

- It would have affected a lot, it would have given a completely different financial situation for our family.

Then maybe my husband could not take parental leave and follow (and help with Mira) this fall when we will compete.

But now I can afford it.

- The whole puzzle of life becomes easier.

And so it is the signals that are sent: We can feel even more strength and calm.
