Julian Alaphilippe became world champion in road cycling on Sunday, September 27, in Imola, Italy.
The French won after the 258 km race.
He is the first Frenchman to wear the rainbow jersey since Laurent Brochard in 1997.

The most prominent Frenchman of the last Tour de France, Julian Alaphilippe did even stronger, a week after the end of the 2020 Grand Boucle. The puncheur du Cher became world champion in cycling in Imola, Italy, ahead of the Belgian Wout van Aert and the Swiss Marc Hirschi.
