Twenty-nine French people, men and women combined, will take part in the 2020 edition of Roland-Garros, which begins on Sunday.

But they don't arrive on the courts in their best form.

The French number 1, Gaël Monfils, has not won any match since his resumption.

Sébastien Grosjean is however optimistic: "There remains a strong chance for the French side."

D-1 before the opening of Roland-Garros.

Delayed due to a health crisis, the 2020 edition will not be played, as usual, under the early summer sun.

In the stands, only 1,000 spectators will be able to attend.

To top it off, the French players do not arrive on the courts in their best form, between a lack of benchmarks for some and a search for sensations for others.

Not to mention the unprecedented express transition between two surfaces, the hardness of the US Open and the clay courts of Roland-Garros.

"Gaël Monfils remains a strong chance for the French side"

In the absence of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Lucas Pouille, Sébastien Grosjean, the Davis Cup captain is betting above all on the French number 1 Gaël Monfils.

"Even if he has played very little since the resumption, it has been difficult, there is still a strong chance for the French side."

However, the player has not won a single game since resuming the ATP Tour.

"We remember in the past Gaël arriving at Roland Garros with very few victories or a little less physically, and still managing to pass the laps each time, to find himself in the second week", puts Sébastien Grosjean into perspective.
