Italy refuses to increase the number of fans in the stadiums due to the Coronavirus situation

The Italian government has rejected a proposal to increase the number of fans at sporting events, including the Italian Football League, the Serie A.

Some regions have suggested that the number set at 1,000 spectators per match could be increased to 25 percent of the capacity of the stadiums, which would mean around 20,000 spectators attending stadiums such as the San Siro in Milan and the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

But the government's scientific technical committee said today, Saturday, that this step will be premature, given the current situation of the Corona virus.

"The scientific technical committee believes ... that the current conditions are not conducive for spectators to attend events in the open and closed stadiums in the manner referred to in the report prepared by the regions and regions," she added in a statement.

The committee indicated that it may review its decision as soon as additional information becomes available regarding the impact of the situation of Covid-19 infection on the reopening of schools early this month.
