Sunday's football match in the Superettan for men between Umeå and AFC Eskilstuna will be played as planned, despite eleven confirmed cases of covid-19 in the home team's A-team squad. Umeå announces on its website that it has sent a request to the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) to have the match postponed, but the association's competition committee says no; the match will be played according to the current game schedule on Sunday at 17.30.
The decision is in line with when Herrallsvenska Helsingborg received a negative message from the competition committee at the end of August and was forced to carry out the home meeting with Djurgården (3–1) despite a large spread of infection in the team.
The choice to play was heavily criticized by the association's own medical committee, Helsingborg's team doctor and infection control Skåne.
