"This is a big step forward for Russian sports"

The RBU hopes that justice will ultimately prevail in the case of Russian biathletes.

Union President Viktor Maygurov said this on Friday, commenting on the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

CAS fully acquitted ex-biathletes of the Russian national team Yana Romanova and Olga Vilukhina in the anti-doping rule violation case during the 2014 Olympic Games and returned the last silver medal in the sprint race.

Meanwhile, the court satisfied the appeal of the three-time world champion Olga Zaitseva only partially.

She was lifted from the Olympic Games for life, but not charges of anti-doping rule violations.

Accordingly, the silver medal of the relay at the OI-2014 will not return to the Russians.

In addition to Zaitseva, Vilukhina, Romanova and Ekaterina Shumilova took the start in that race.

Nevertheless, according to Maigurov, Zaitseva is ready to appeal the CAS decision in a Swiss court.

Meanwhile, Vilukhina, commenting on the incident, rejoiced at her acquittal, but remained dissatisfied with the court verdict on Zaitseva.

According to the medalist of the Olympic Games, her former partner in the Russian national team is the last one on whom suspicions of using prohibited substances could fall.

“A person from the IOC commission.

She has always fought against doping.

The best sportswoman!

And now they continue to beat her, it is disgusting from this ... But we will continue to fight, go to the civil court in New York.

The sediment from all this remained, despite the positive decision, ”TASS quotes Vilukhina.

At the same time, the silver medalist of OI-2014 thanked the former president of the RBU Mikhail Prokhorov for the support, as well as the former executive director of the union, Sergei Kushchenko.

“I couldn't pull the financial side - crazy money was spent on protection.

And it scares that if there are no financial resources for lawyers, lawyers, then, by default, they would be guilty.

Fortunately, Mikhail Dmitrievich (Prokhorov -

RT

) helped, led us from start to finish in this matter and will continue to help.

Thank him very much for defending one silver, now we are fighting for another, ”added Vilukhina.

Valery Ivanov, the husband of Vilukhina, also spoke about the court decision.

He said that the wife simply could not use illegal drugs due to serious problems with the thyroid gland and severe allergies.

According to Ivanov, doping can kill Olga.

Meanwhile, another ex-biathlete of the Russian national team Romanova, acquitted by CAS, expressed indignation at the court's decision regarding Zaitseva.

The former coach of the national team Wolfgang Pichler also stood up for Olga.

“It is wrong to leave the disqualification of Zaitseva, and we must fight for it.

All the same, Vilukhin and Romanov were acquitted, so 80% is a victory and a big step forward for Russian sports.

I believe that the lawyers will continue to fight in court and prove that Rodchenkov is lying, and Olga is a pure athlete.

I am absolutely sure of that.

You have to go to civil court.

On the positive side, Zaitseva can come to the Olympics as a representative of the Russian delegation, "- quotes the words of the Swedish specialist" Sport-Express ".

Zaitseva herself admitted that when she found out about the CAS decision, tears came to her eyes.

“It's hard for me to talk, I just don't understand what's going on.

All this is sad, considering that I am not guilty of anything ... In life, of course, there are more difficult situations, but now I am very sad, "said the three-time world champion.

Finally, ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov, like Maygurov, declared the need to study the reasoning part of the court's decision, and then take further steps.

“I don’t think there are any sins now, everything should be clean”

In addition to refusing to drop charges against Zaitseva, Thursday brought another unpleasant news to the Russian biathlon.

The IBU has temporarily suspended Ekaterina Glazyrina from participating in tournaments under its auspices for alleged anti-doping rule violations.

The SBR said that we are talking about alleged violations committed at domestic Russian competitions in 2013.

Also, the former biathlete of the Russian national team Timofey Lapshin, who has played for South Korea in recent years, was suspended.

Moreover, in 2018, the domestic biathlete was already disqualified for two years.

All its results from December 19, 2013 to February 10, 2017 were canceled.

Glazyrina's personal trainer, as well as her husband Anton Shchurbinov, promised this time "to cut for the truth to the end."

“So far there are no charges, there is only a temporary suspension.

Based on this, we will move on.

The mood is fighting, of course, it is a little offensive that this happens.

The man has already served everything, although nothing has been proven there either.

There, in the IBU, people made a decision, well, but we calmly went out and returned to the level from which we were thrown off, and maybe even raised higher.

Apparently, they don't need strong competition at the World Cup.

I informed the national team, of course.

I think that senior coach Mikhail Shashilov should be aware of.

Of course, he was slightly shocked.

It is not pleasant that the headquarters are losing the person they are counting on, ”RIA Novosti quoted Shchurbinov as saying.

And the former mentor of the athlete Valentina Stremousova could hardly restrain her emotions when she learned about the IBU verdict.

According to her, it is impossible to believe that Glazyrina again decided to violate the anti-doping rules after a two-year disqualification.

“She is not the kind of person to step on the same rake.

How she got out, how difficult it was, and in a lack of money.

I don't think there are any sins now, everything should be clean.

At all competitions we call Ekaterina on the phone.

Doping officers always go after her, I don't think there is anything behind her now.

This is a story from 2013, this trail has been going on since that time, ”Stremousova emphasized.

The former head coach of the Russian national biathlon team Anatoly Khovantsev also noted that the claims of the International Biathlon Union are most likely related to Glazyrina's past, and not her present.

In addition, he stressed that during his work with the national team, no one had any questions to Ekaterina.
