Earlier on Thursday, the news came that quickly made headlines around the world: Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been tested positive for the coronavirus.
Thus, the Italian big team was forced to do without its Swedish star in tonight's away match against Norwegian Bodö / Glimt, in the third and penultimate qualifying round of the Europa League.
Junker put one
They managed it, but they were hard pressed.
After 14 minutes, Bodö / Glimt made it 1-0.
Jens Petter Hauge came on the left wing and recorded the ball in the penalty area where Kasper Junker appeared and on a strike hit 1-0.
Nice 2-3 reduction
The joy was short-lived, however, and in Milan's first attack after the Norwegian goal, Hakan Calhanoglu got a dream hit from the penalty area circle that went straight up into the net.
Milan then went up to 3-1, before Hauge, who assisted to the match's first goal, got on a cannon hit from about the same place as Calhanoglu, and put 2-3.
Great location in overtime
That result stood the match, even though Bodö / Glimt pressed quite hard at the end of the match.
And with just over a minute left of extra time, the great situation came: Jens Petter Haugne played nicely until Ulrik Saltnes who ran in the deep and got the ball at the penalty spot - but shot the ball high over.
After that came no more chances, and Milan is thus ready for the final qualifying round of the Europa League.
