Di Maria banned 4 matches for 'spitting'

The disciplinary committee of the French Football League announced yesterday that Argentine Angel Di Maria, the Paris Saint-Germain striker, has been suspended for four matches for spitting on Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez during the "Clasico" that brought the two teams together on the 13th of this month.

The association indicated that the investigation that was opened against Gonzalez regarding allegations of racist insults directed at the Brazilian Neymar, the star of Saint-Germain, will be considered on this 30th of this month during the next meeting of the committee.

The cameras captured scenes of Di Maria, who was not dismissed in the exciting match that saw five players sent off, spitting at Gonzalez without hitting him.

The suspension of the 32-year-old Argentine international will take effect on the 29th of the current month, so he will be able to participate against Rennes this Sunday in the fifth stage, and to return to the competition on the eighth of November against Rennes.
