It was early on Wednesday morning that five people were taken in for questioning after a large police operation.
Police Commissioner Magnus Lindegren tells GP that one of the people has connections to sports.
- The one we call the principal is a name in sports, including football.
The other four are connected to him in different ways, says Lindegren to the newspaper.
According to Fotbollskanalen, it should be a Swedish elite referee in question, who has judged at the highest level in Sweden and also at the top level internationally.
Reached millions
The people are suspected of gross fraud and money laundering.
The principal is said to have defrauded companies of millions and then laundered the money through thousands of transactions.
The police interrogated the people during the day and decided to arrest all five.
The interrogations are expected to continue on Thursday.
