While suspicions of doping in the Arkéa-Samsic team splash the world of cycling, the members of the peloton remain cautious, and want to trust justice.

But recognize that this case represents once again bad publicity for the discipline.

REPORTAGE

This is a new case that could tarnish the image of cycling.

The custody of a doctor and a physiotherapist from the Arkéa-Samsic team continued on Tuesday evening as part of a preliminary investigation opened for suspicion of doping on the Tour de France.

In the meantime, the life of the peloton continues, and on Tuesday, the Paris-Camembert race was held.

If the sportsmen remain cautious, the spectators, them, are fatalistic.

"Arkéa-Samsic, it's a shame for them, but I think unfortunately it's not just them. The first of the Tour de France, I'm not sure they are walking in clear water", says a spectator on the side of the road.

"We don't think about it on the bike"

In front of the Arkéa team bus, on the other hand, it is radio silence.

Nobody wants to express themselves.

Cyclist Paul Ourselin, of Total-Direct Energie training, who knows the Breton team well, remains cautious and trusts justice.

"I have lots of friends in the Arkéa team who, I know, do their job very calmly and this is perhaps the case for everyone", he confides to Europe 1, not wanting draw a "hasty conclusion".

And to conclude: "We don't think about it on the bike".

Still, this case is not good news for cycling, deplores the winner of the day's race, Dorian Godon, from AG2R La Mondiale.

"It's clear that it never feels good like cycling, for people who do their job properly," he regrets.

In any case, in the peloton, we ensure that we remain mobilized and vigilant in the fight against doping.
