He could be the most expensive goalkeeper to leave Ligue 1. Transferred to Stade Rennais a year ago for four million euros, the former goalkeeper from Reims will engage well with Chelsea.

Transaction amount ?

Between 20 and 30 million euros depending on the sources.

If the formalization of the departure was not established on the Rennes side, it was in England.

Asked at a press conference on Tuesday, Blues coach Frank Lampard confirmed that Edouard Mendy was undergoing his medical examination when he was speaking.

The former midfielder has also said that Petr Cech "had played an important role" in the arrival of the Senegalese goalkeeper in London.

In 2004, the Czech goalkeeper, who now serves as technical advisor to Chelsea, followed the same path.

After 78 matches for Stade Rennais, Cech had been transferred to the London club for an amount of around 15 million euros.

He played nearly 500 games there and became the helmeted legend we know, before ending his career at Arsenal.

Sixteen years later, Edouard Mendy is preparing to follow the same path.

For its part, Stade Rennais is looking to replace him.

The Breton club, which will discover the Champions League in just a month, would have activated several tracks.

We talk a lot about Alfred Gomis, the goalkeeper that Dijon does not want to let go, or even Kevin Trapp, the former PSG who plays at Eintracht Frankfurt.

But the Croatian press also reports the Bretons' interest in 25-year-old Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
