The Formula 1 Eifel Grand Prix, at the Nürburgring, in Germany, will be able to take place in front of 20,000 spectators on the condition of strict compliance with health rules against the new coronavirus, local authorities announced on Monday.

The event is set to take place from October 9 to 11 at the Nürburgring, a circuit that had not hosted a Grand Prix since the 2013 season and a victory for Sebastian Vettel with Red Bull.

This authorization falls within the framework of the rules instituted at the regional level as regards sporting events, which provides for the possibility of filling a stadium to 20% of its capacity if the infrastructures allow the maintenance of barrier gestures and in the absence of a strong resurgence of infections, explains the canton of Ahrweiler in a press release.

Strict instructions in the stands

The organizers had to put in place a strict sanitary procedure.

Tickets will therefore only be available in electronic form and will be personalized.

Visitors residing in risk areas will not be able to purchase tickets.

The stands have been fitted out to allow the application of barrier gestures.

And the consumption of alcohol will be strictly prohibited.

The sale of tickets, which will begin Tuesday according to the organizers, will also be done in stages in order "to be able to react at any time to a significant increase in infections", indicated the canton.

Compliance with the rules will be strictly controlled.

In the event of an offense, the health authorities reserve "the possibility of closing the stands or even of interrupting the whole event", he warned.
