Luis Rubiales

has been re-elected as president of the

Royal Spanish Football Federation

(RFEF) for the next four years, the period 2020-2024, during the

General Assembly

of the body, held this Monday in the

Luis Aragonés Room of the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas

(Madrid).

In a ceremony held under the strict health and safety measures established by the

coronavirus

prevention protocols

, Rubiales, the only candidate proclaimed by the

Electoral Commission

on September 4, has had 95 votes in favor, 10 blank, of the 140 representatives called to form the Assembly.

The assembly members, elected on August 24, have also proclaimed the Delegate Commission of the General Assembly of the RFEF for the same period (2020-2024).

In this way, Rubiales (Las Palmas, 1977) will begin his second term, the first complete one, at the head of the federative body.

The former president of the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) has directed the RFEF since May 2018, when Juan Luis Larrea was imposed by an absolute majority (80 votes compared to 56) in the first vote;

Both were running for office after the

dismissal of Ángel María Villar

by the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD), permanently disqualified at the end of 2017 due to his involvement in 'Operation Soule'.

The now new president of the RFEF has been the only candidate in the elections, presenting more than one hundred endorsements, after the resignation of the Real Madrid exporter and the Spanish team

Iker Casillas

, who understood that there was not "a fair electoral process ".

Among Rubiales' measures in his two years at the helm of the organization, the creation of the Impulso 23 Program of aid to Second B and Third clubs, the creation of the Integrity Area or the promotion of the

Super Cup outside of Spain

, with the dispute of the first edition in Tangier (Morocco) and the following ones in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

On the sporting level, there is the controversial

dismissal of Julen Lopetegui

as coach on the eve of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as well as the commitment to Luis Enrique Martínez, coach during two stages and who has returned to 'La Roja' after disagreements with his second coach,

Robert Moreno

, who replaced him during his absence due to his daughter's illness.

Garbajosa, reelected president of the FEB until 2024

The president of

the Spanish Basketball Federation

(FEB),

Jorge Garbajosa

, has been

re-elected

this Monday for the next four years during the Extraordinary General Assembly of the organization, held in a hotel in Madrid.

The members of the General Assembly ratified the only candidate who presented his candidacy on September 7 with 92% support (66 votes in favor and 6 blank).

In this way, Garbajosa will fulfill his

second term

at the head of the FEB, after taking office in the summer of 2016.
