Anna van der Breggen has won the Giro Rosa for the third time in her career.
In Saturday's final stage, her pink leader's jersey was no longer in danger.
The stage victory went to the Frenchwoman Évita Muzic.
For Van der Breggen, who also won the Italian stage race in 2015 and 2017, it is her fifth victory of the year.
She previously became European time trial champion and Dutch road champion and triumphed in the Spanish stage race Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, in which she also won a stage.
For a long time, the overall victory in the biggest women's race of the year seemed to go to Annemiek van Vleuten, but the then classification leader broke her wrist on Thursday in a crash in the seventh stage and was forced to get off.
Van Vleuten also signed up for the World Cycling Championships in Imola, Italy.
Van der Breggen conquered the leader's jersey in the eighth stage on Friday, which was in the hands of the Polish Katarzyna Niewiadoma after Van Vleuten's withdrawal.
The thirty-year-old Boels-Doelmans rider was second in the last mountain stage to San Marco la Catola behind stage winner Elisa Longo Borghini and won 1 minute and 19 seconds at Niewiadoma.

Final ride prey for escapees
In the last stage of the Giro Rosa, the riders rode four hilly laps of about 27.5 kilometers.
It soon became clear that a large leading group including the Dutch Ellen van Dijk, who replaces Van Vleuten at the World Championship time trial, was given the space of the peloton.
In the end, there were nine riders left in the final, who sprinted for the stage victory in the streets of Motta Montecorvino.
The French Muzic of FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope turned out to be the fastest.
Van Dijk came fifth.
